Samcheong-dong (삼청동)

Samcheong-dong (삼청동)! :D

What a lovely and aesthetically pleasing neighbourhood! It is one of the neighbourhoods in South Korea that I really love! Samcheong-dong is arguably one of the most famous neighbourhoods in Seoul for it often appears in countless Korean dramas and movies. So many pretty shops, cafes and restaurant here!

Samcheong-dong (삼청동)
Recently spotted in Temperature of Love.

I didn't know that Samcheong-dong is famous until I got back to Malaysia. Silly me but that's what happened when you didn't do a proper research. I was lucky that I got to discover and explore this aesthetically pleasing neighbourhood by chance.

I was exploring Bukchon Hanok Village (북촌한옥마을) when I got lost and chose a wrong way. I wanted to see the Scenic View #8: View from the Samcheong-dong stone stairway which eventually will lead me to Samcheong-dong but then I went a wrong way and I suddenly turned up at this unfamiliar side of Samcheong-dong.

Samcheong-dong (삼청동)
Recently spotted in What's Wrong, Secretary Kim? (according to my reading as I have yet to watch the show)

I think I walked in circles for quite some time when I realized that I was lost, trying to find my way back to Bukchon Hanok Village. When I decided that I will not going to make it back to Bukchon Hanok Village because my sense of direction was bloody bad that day, I decided to explore Samcheong-dong as it is.

Though, I have to say that I didn't get to explore Samcheong-dong to my heart content as I was extremely exhausted after getting lost repeatedly. Still, I was extremely happy with whatever that I encountered that day.

Samcheong-dong (삼청동)

Saw so many aesthetically pleasing shops, cafes, restaurants, museums, galleries, you name it! Wanted to go in to every shop, cafe, restaurant, museum, and gallery but I had a goal not to spend money on unnecessary thing that day, so, no shop, cafe, restaurant, museum, and gallery for me. Now that I think about it, maybe I shouldn't be so stingy with myself that day. A treat for myself at one of the aesthetically pleasing cafes or restaurants after getting lost does not sound so bad after all, no?

Samcheong-dong (삼청동)

I didn't know how did I get to be at the streets and see the shops above. All I knew was I was lost and tired that I decided just to walk in whichever way. I think this may be at one of the first intersections of smaller streets. In any cases, you are most likely will see the streets and shops if you have a clear goal to explore Samcheong-dong.

Things I wish I knew when I was there: Samcheong-dong, Bukchon Hanok Village, Insadong, and Gyeongbokgung are all located around the same area. A wise move is to visit those places in a same day instead of separate day as one can save transportation cost by walking to and from each places.

Samcheong-dong is definitely one of the places that I want to go again in the future! I plan to go with someone who drinks coffee and loves desserts so that we can go cafe-hopping around the neighbourhood! Hopefully I will get another chance to visit this lovely neighbourhood :)

Insadong (인사동)

I went to Insadong (인사동) during one of those days to check the neighbourhood out. I didn't have any particular goal except to visit Ssamziegil (쌈지길) so admittedly, I only breezed through the area. It wasn't as busy as what I expected when I was there, so that was good.

Insadong (인사동)

According to my brief research, Insadong is your go-to place if you like something artsy and if you are looking for traditional souvenirs. However, please be aware that the prices here can be on the pricey side if you compare to places like Dongdaemeun (동대문) and Namdaemun (남대문).

My friend who is a talented artist (in my eyes) told me that she can easily spend a day at Insadong to enjoy all the artsy stuff and traditional souvenirs that Insadong has to offer. I can't really relate to her sentiment but I guess what Insadong means to her is like what Hongdae (홍대) means to me.
Insadong (인사동)

I personally found Insadong as an intriguing neighbourhood especially after I walked around the small alleys. Hidden behind those small and maze-like alleys are local restaurants that various dishes ranging from regular dishes to traditional dishes and traditional desserts to modern and western desserts. Some of the shops are so Instagrammable while some of them look like run-down buildings but give out such a warmth feeling?

Granted, I didn't try any restaurants or dessert shops at all but this is something that I would want to do in the future if I have another chance to go to South Korea (대한민국) .

Ssamziegil (쌈지길)

I didn't explore the alleys much as my main goal was to visit Ssamziegil. It was hard to miss Ssamziegil  especially if walk along the main street of Insadong (unless if you jalan tak pandang kiri kanan la). My first impression of Ssamziegil was, "Oh, besar rupanya tempat ni. Ingatkan kecil je. lol!"

Ssamziegil is basically a complex that is mainly filled with anything arts like art shops, craft workshops, art galleries and others. However, like any other complexes, there are few restaurants, snack shops, and teahouses in the complex as well. Having said that, do note that the restaurants and snack shops here are on the unique side? For example, there were few shops selling poop ice-cream and there were few restaurants serving their dishes in bowls shaped like jamban duduk.
Ssamziegil (쌈지길)

Anyway, I think I spent about 2 to 3 hours at Ssamziegil alone because I kept stopping in front of the gazillion shops because almost all things that were on sale were bloody cute. Too bad that they came with bloody expensive price tag as well. If they were not, I might have bought few stuff T__T

Didn't get to take a lot of pictures here because most shops had this 'No Picture' sign. Ughhhh! I was utterly disappointed whenever I saw that sign. I understand the reason behind the sign; to prevent plagiarism yadda yadda but wow, the frustration T___T

Anywho, I truly enjoyed my time at Insadong especially at Ssamziegil. I just wished I spent more time exploring the alleys instead of spending 2 to 3 hours at Ssamziegil. Ssamziegil was all good, fun and entertaining but I think 2-3 hours was too much for a place like Ssamziegil.

My Songs of August 2018

My August was quite meh in general? I was pretty much emotionless for almost every day. Also, it was a month that I had to think about quite a lot of stuff which contributed to me feeling meh. It was also a month where I made a major decision to stick with my current job (surprise! surprise!) after agonizing about it for few months. Hopefully, it's gonna the best decision as I couldn't afford any mistakes right now especially after I freaking said no to few better job offers.

Anyway, August was also the month that I discovered that I have a lot of good songs that I have never heard of in my iTunes. Maybe I should put my playlist on shuffle more often after this? Anyway, these songs will remind me about my August 2018. Maybe not of the meh feeling but more to happy feeling that I got to discover these songs :)

Korean Entertainment Agencies: YG Entertainment (YG 엔터테인먼트), SM Entertainment (SM 엔터테인먼트), JYP Entertainment (JYP 엔터테인먼트) & FNC Entertainment (FNC 엔터테인먼트)

This post should be the last post about my visit to any Korean entertainment agencies for this particular trip. I honestly didn't plan to visit any Korean entertainment agencies at all but I took an approach of "dah alang-alang" when I was there. I don't think I'm going to revisit all the agencies again in the future but that will depend on who's gonna be my travel partner next time I'm going to South Korea.

YG Entertainment (YG 엔터테인먼트)

Started my day of K-pop companies hunt by going to YG Entertainment (YG 엔터테인먼트) first. YG Entertainment was only 5-minute walk from my hostel. It was super close that I found it funny. I took a long way to go there so, there's that. I believe it's supposed to be less than 5-minute walk if I took a shortcut.

Didn't see any idols here but there were a lot of black cars at the parking. Also didn't see any fans waiting at all so pretty sure there were no idols in the building at that time.

 FNC Entertainment (FNC 엔터테인먼트)

I then went to FNC Entertainment (FC 엔터테인먼트). Again, didn't see any fans waiting around. My simple conclusion, maybe no idols were around at that time as well.

SM Entertainment (SM 엔터테인먼트)

I proceeded to SM Entertainment (SM 엔터테인먼트). I honestly wasn't sure if SM was still using the building at that time. I knew they have a new building around Gangnam but I wasn't sure if they have started using that building when I was there. Didn't even bother to check because I was plain lazy. This SM Entertainment's building looked like an abandoned building. However, I think there were people working inside as you can see a car parked outside and I actually bumped into a few SM's employees. Again, I didn't see anyone here.

JYP Entertainment (JYP 엔터테인먼트)

My last K-pop companies on that day was JYP Entertainment (JYP 엔터테인먼트). JYP Entertainment was the only company that had few fans waiting outside the building. I overheard that few of them have been waiting for almost 4 hours but they have yet to see anyone. Some of them were contemplated to leave but got convinced to stay for few more hours by their friends. What a dedication. I was there less than 5 minutes because I didn't want to waste my precious time. After all, when I decided to go for the K-pop companies hunt, I only wanted to see the buildings. That's all.

Conclusively, it was just an okay experience to see those buildings. I wasn't lucky enough to get a glimpse of the Korean idols except when I was at the Pledis Entertainment (플레디스 엔터테인먼트) where I saw Hoshi of SEVENTEEN and Minhyun of Wanna One / NUEST but that was okay. I wasn't expecting anything when I decided to visit those buildings so seeing Hoshi and Minhyun was a pleasant bonus for me.

Korean Entertainment Agency: CUBE Entertainment (큐브 엔터테인먼트) & 20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스)

I didn't plan to go to CUBE Entertainment (큐브 엔터테인먼트) when I went to South Korea because the only two CUBE artists that I listen to are B2ST (currently know as Highlight) and BTOB and I'm just a casual fan of them. However, I met 2 girls that I known during a concert in a subway and they told me that CUBE Entertainment is near to COMMON GROUND (커먼그라운드) So I thought, "Oh okay, pergi jelah kalau dekat. Buat cukup syarat je."

CUBE Entertainment (큐브 엔터테인먼트) & 20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스)

I think it's only a stop away from COMMON GROUND but of course I was such a dumb person for I walked to CUBE Entertainment instead of taking a subway. Stupid decision because it's not that close if you're walking. Or, maybe I just had a terrible sense of distance. Think it took me almost 20 to 30 minutes to walk to CUBE Entertainment from COMMON GROUND.

20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스)

According to the girls, CUBE Entertainment just moved to this building that year and they also just opened a cafe called 20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스) for the fangirls out there! Pretty sure that was a good decision on their part because they could easily rip off money from the fangirls.

I don't consider myself as a fangirl that goes and buys everything that my favourite artists endorse or own, but I did buy something from the 20 Space Cafe. I bought an apple juice as I need to rehydrate myself after walking under the hot weather for at least 20 minutes.

And, that was when I knew that they actually ripped off money from the fangirls. I paid KRW 4,000 for a small bottle of apple juice and a cup of ice but I think I saw the same apple juice being sold for KRW 1,500 at convenience stores.

20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스)

Putting the price aside, I think the cafe is quite spacious and cozy. I personally don't think the cafe is special or superior than any other cafes in Seoul because I've been to few other cafes and they are way better than 20 Space Cafe. The only thing that I personally liked about this cafe was the cold air-conditioner. What a treat! I think the main selling points of this cafe are; they are owned by CUBE Entertainment and they are located in the same building of CUBE Entertainment which increase your probability to get a glimpse of your favourite idols. That's about it.

20 Space Cafe (20 스페이스)

Additionally, I think (I'm not really sure) they are selling the official merchandises of CUBE Entertainment's idols. Like on the displays, they were displaying official BTOB's merchandises. If you're a hardcore fangirl, this might be your thing. But not for me. Also, pretty sure they will play songs by CUBE Entertainment's idols non-stop. When I was there, they played B2ST and BTOB's songs, so I was happy :D

I didn't get to see any members of B2ST and BTOB but I did see few trainees. I don't know them so I didn't even bother to check them out. Haha. However, I believe they were quite famous trainees as few girls in the cafe were whispering to each other when they see them. One of the girls also gave one of the trainees a gift.

And this is a totally irrelevant note but I didn't like the attitude of those trainees. Some of them were nice and respectful but few of them were so arrogant and full of themselves. They were way worse than Hoshi of SEVENTEEN but at least Hoshi has debuted and SEVENTEEN is quite a big name.

#FirstImpression: Thirty but Seventeen (서른이지만 열일곱입니다) (2018)

Snippet of the drama (From Viki)
A life can change in an instant.

Woo Seo Ri (Shin Hye Sun) was a 17-year-old violin prodigy who is getting ready to study abroad in Germany. But a serious car accident leaves her in a coma.

Gong Woo Jin (Yang Se Jong), who caused the accident, is traumatized and plagued by the guilt of what he has done. Thirteen years later, he works as a set designer but is emotionally cut off from everyone around him.

When Seo Ri wakes up unexpectedly from her coma 13 years later, she is in the body of a 30-year-old woman but is mentally still only 17. Can Woo Jin help her adjust to her new world and learn to live and love again?

Credit: Here

My first impression
Firstly, let me admit that I'm a huge fan of Yang Se Jong (양세종). Dude has been stealing my heart ever since Romantic Doctor, Teacher Kim (낭만닥터 김사부) so I know I'm gonna be so biased! Also, I know I'm gonna be such a smitten fan girl. Dah taraf-taraf Kang Ha Neul dah dia ni in my heart, so that speaks volume. lol!

Now that we got that covered, I can proceed with my actual impression. I think I like this drama so much so that I think I'm going to binge watch it again once it ended provided if it stays good until the end. I have only watched 4 episodes right now (or 8 episodes of 30 minutes, whichever you call it) and I really really really liked those 4 episodes.

I particularly liked the interactions between all the main characters. I especially loved seeing the relationship between Gong Woo Jin and his nephew, Yoo Chan. So much love! So much cuteness! Another interaction that I really dig was between Woo Seo Ri and Yoo Chan. So cute! So innocent! And of course, any interactions that involved Jennifer! Jennifer is my crack!

The first 4 episodes were heartbreaking and sad at some points but funny and hilarious at most parts. I don't usually like funny stuff but I liked the humor in this show. Think it was my kind of humor. Truly had a time of my life giggling over the jokes and humor in this show. However, I also felt sad and like I want to cry at some points. Especially after seeing Yang Se Jong crying. Dude was so good at crying!  However, he also made me smile like a crazy person after seeing his smile. His smile is like sunshine, I kid you not!

I think I should stop fangirling about Yang Se Jong because I can talk non-stop about him and things that make me a fan of him. Otherwise, people will think that I'm such a stupid fangirl -__-

Putting aside Yang Se Jong, I'm truly surprised with Shin Hye Sun's performance. She really exuded that innocent and teenager vibe. She gave me this "Awwwww, why you're so pure and innocent like this?" kind of feeling, considering her age in the show is 30 years old. I honestly was not a fan of her but wow, she made me a fan of her in just 4 episodes. Or, maybe I just love her as Woo Seo Ri?

And, I'm so happy to see Ye Ji Won (예지원) or known as Jennifer, the housekeeper in this show. She's fantastic in comedic acting and eccentric roles so I expect nothing less than her as Jennifer. I hope she's not gonna be just a comedic relief in this show. Hopefully, there'll be in-depth in her character. #pleaseshowdontdisappointme

At this point, you can definitely see me keep watching this show. However, I'm not sure if I'm going to live watch it or binge watch it. I have yet to decide. A part of my heart wants to live watch it so that I can get my weekly dose of Yang Se Jong and humor. However, a part of my heart want to binge watch it so that I don't have to wait for the next episodes. Ughhhh, decision, decision.

Deluxe Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Tour by Discover Banff Tours

You may have seen my pictures for this particular tour ages ago but I just had time to pen down my experience. *Typical Farah* I went to this tour; Deluxe Lake Louise & Moraine Lake Tour 3 months ago, courtesy of Discover Banff Tours. Thank you Discover Banff Tours for the opportunity! :)

As you can seen from the title and the tour name, I had a chance to visit Lake Louise & Moraine Lake for the umpteenth time! This tour was particularly special as it was an evening tour, and a lil bit longer than the usual tour to Lake Louise & Moraine Lake. On top of that, an early dinner at the Baker Creek Bistro was a part of the tour as well.

Baker Creek Bistro
Baker Creek Bistro

I didn't get to eat the dinner provided because it was Ramadan. However, I can confidently say that the food smelled and looked so good! I also believe the ambiance of the Baker Creek Bistro will make the dining experience more memorable. It was very warm and cozy that I almost fell asleep while waiting for my tour group to finish off their dinner :)

Castle Mountain
Castle Mountain

We took the scenic Bow Valley Parkway to go to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. It was my first time at the Bow Valley Parkway and as usual, I was so stunned with the surrounding view. Also, the road was fairly empty and quiet compare to the Trans-Canada Highway. Think I saw a caribou or maybe a moose when we were about to reach Baker Creek Bistro.

We were briefed about the Bow Valley Parkway history and were introduced to the name of mountains. It was such an interesting, entertaining, and informative briefing. Couldn't share much here because I don't really remember all the deets but I know I learned a lot!

Tip: If you're heading to Lake Louise and Moraine Lake, do use the Bow Valley Parkway for a better road trip experience. The view is to die for. There are few attractions located along the way of Bow Valley Parkway. Additionally, there are also a lot of stops for photo ops. Also, you'll have higher chances to see wildlife here.

Lake Louise

We stopped at the Lake Louise first after the dinner at the Baker Creek Bistro. Surprisingly, there were not many people at the Lake Louise, so that was a happy news, wohooooo! We were given 30 minutes (or was it 45 minutes?) to explore the area. I didn't walk much as I need to save my energy as I had to work that night. Instead, I just sat around and soaking up the view. It was my first time seeing the Lake Louise in this kind of weather and state, so it was an interesting experience.

Tip: Walk along the lakefront for better view and more better photo spots as the jetty (or boardwalk? not sure what you call it) tends to be overcrowded by tourists.

Trail to Rockpile Moraine Lake

We then head out to the Moraine Lake. Honestly, I think Moraine Lake was the highlight of the tour. Well, I can be biased because Moraine Lake might be one of my most favourite lakes in Canada but if you were to ask around, I believe the locals here would recommend Moraine Lake than Lake Louise. That's how special and stunning Moraine Lake is! :)

We were given an hour to explore Moraine Lake just because our guide loves Moraine Lake better. There were not many people here as well, which was a happy news, again! I decided to hike the Rockpile to get the best view of Moraine Lake as I didn't get to do so when I first came here.

Tip: Hike the Rockpile to get the best view of Moraine Lake. Do use the trail to the Rockpile for you own safety. It's a barely 10-minute hike?

Moraine Lake

It was totally worth the 10 minutes hike! I finally got to see the view of Moraine Lake from the Rockpile viewpoint. You know, like the ones that have always been shared on Facebook or Instagram? lol! This wasn't my first time here but I felt overjoyed and super stoked when I saw the view. Granted, it wasn't the blue Moraine Lake like I have always dreamed of but it was still a magical experience for me. Or maybe because it was my first visit here after almost 10 months? Either way, I was happy! I spent the rest of the time I had here, sitting around and enjoying the view. Also, I took my sweet time to take dozens of pictures so that I can look back at them whenever I miss the view in the future :)

I don't know when will I ever get a chance to visit these two beautiful lakes again, but I'm truly grateful for this opportunity. Again, thank you Discover Banff Tours!

FYI: This trip took place on May 24, 2018. Hence, the snow and not fully thawed lakes.

Why I Haven't Updated Anything About Jeju Island & Why I May Not Update About Jeju Island at All?

I have been receiving a lot of questions about my trip to South Korea (대한민국). And most questions sound more or less like this, "Will you ever finish updating about your trip to South Korea?" or "When will you update about other places than Seoul? How about Busan? How about Jeju?" I honestly don't know how to answer all those questions. I feel like I still want to update about my trip to South Korea walaupun macam dah lapuk but at the same time, I feel it's not relevant anymore. lol!

Anyway, after reading Kak Siti's and Aisya's posts about Jeju Island, I have decided to post something about Jeju Island as well. Instead of talking about how beautiful Jeju Island is, I decided to talk about why I haven't updated anything about Jeju Island and why I may not update about Jeju Island at all.

Honestly, I do not remember much about Jeju Island. It was mainly because I was exhausted when I was in Jeju Island that I just followed wherever my guide brought us. To make things worse, it was raining every day when I was in Jeju Island so I didn't get to see the beautiful Jeju Island and I did not have any beautiful pictures of Jeju Island.

I was truly grateful for the chance of visiting Jeju Island but couldn't help to feel bittersweet about my trip to Jeju Island because of my exhaustion and weather. There was nothing much that I can do about my exhaustion at that point but let me show you how unfortunate the weather was when I was in Jeju Island. I know it was something that I couldn't control of but .....

All these 3 pictures were taken in Seongsan Ilchulbong (성산 일출봉) where my frustration and sadness were on peak.

Farah at Seongsan Ilchulbong 성산 일출봉
Excuse me, where's the blue sky and the peak of Seongsan Ilchulbong?
Seongsan Ilchulbong does not look like this in my imagination, hello?!

Farah at Seongsan Ilchulbong 성산 일출봉
Errrr, yeay I finally arrived at the top of Seongsan Ilchulbong???!!!
Where's the view, again?

Seongsan Ilchulbong 성산 일출봉
Right, the view you asked?! Who am I kidding?
No blue sky, no blue beach or ocean, no view at all T____T

So, kindly refrain yourself from asking about Jeju Island to me, okay? I'm still sad that I didn't get to see the beautiful Jeju Island T__T

Banff Sunshine Village & Sunshine Meadows for the First Time

I have many pending posts about places in Banff National Park and Yoho National Park that I've been to since the start of this summer. I think I should start with this one. Perlahan-lahanlah kita kayuh ya? :)

I went to Banff Sunshine Village & Sunshine Meadows (from now on, will be referred as SSV) for the first time on July 28. It was kinda last minute decision. Initially, I planned to go to SSV on July 27 but I had no energy left after exploring 4 other places the day before. So, off I went to SSV in the morning of July 28.

In all honesty, it wasn't the best decision to go to SSV on that July 28. Firstly, I was rushed to go to SSV right after my shift. #sispenat #sismengantuk Secondly, it was quite hazy and hot that day. Thirdly, I wasn't prepare physically and mentally to explore what SSV has to offer that day. Fourthly, I was in a rush as I had to take the 12 pm shuttle back to Banff so that I can catch my sleep as I had to work later that night.

Banff Sunshine Village

However, I decided to go to SSV despite the reasons mentioned above just because of one reason; I had one free sightseeing coupon which expires on July 29. So I thought to myself, "Why not go and check out what Banff Sunshine Village has to offer first? Kalau best, repeat. Kalau tak best, at least you've been there?"

Took the free shuttle from Banff to go there. I think it took about me 20 to 25 minutes to arrive at the base of gondola. Wasn't so sure because I slept in the shuttle and woke up right after the shuttle arrived at the base of gondola. After that, I went to the general office to change my coupon to actual ticket. However, I did line up at the ticket counter before being redirected to the general office and what I can say is, the line was not long at all. There were only 2 people in front of me. So, I guess, 9 AM and maybe earlier is the best time to go to SSV?

Banff Sunshine Village - Gondola

Took a gondola up to the Village and boy, what a long ride. I think it took me about 20 minutes to reach the Village. I was restless for a bit but thank god, the view was mesmerizing. After that, I had to walk for less than 3 minutes to get on the Standish chairlift to go up to the Standish Viewpoint. It was a fairly short ride. It was less than 10 minutes, I think.

I have to say that after riding open air chairlift for few times, I am now less nervous whenever I'm on a chairlift. I think that's quite a feat for me. So, yeay for me? :)

Standish Chairlift

Right after I get off from the Standish Chairlift, I was stunned. I was speechless. My 360-view was a picture-postcard! Honestly, I wasn't expecting the view to be stunning like that. Subhanallah. Subhanallah. Subhanallah. Rasa kerdil sangat-sangat. Took me a solid 5 minutes before I started to walk to Standish Viewpoint.

Walkway to the Standish Viewpoint

It was supposed to be a short walk, 10-minute walk to be exact from the Standish Chairlift to the Standish Viewpoint but I obviously took longer as I was truly mesmerized by the surrounding view. I really had a good time when I was walking to the Standish Viewpoint. It was truly serene and calming, almost magical despite the walkaway was fairly packed by other visitors.

Sunshine Meadows from the Standish Viewpoint

I thought that would be it but masya Allah, He proved me wrong. Sunshine Meadows appeared in front of my eyes. The Sunshine Meadows as seen from the Standish Viewpoint was easily one of the best views or maybe the best view that I have seen this summer! Allah knew how much in awe I was when I first saw the view. Again, I was utterly speechless. As I mentioned before, it was quite hazy that day. So, few of the mountains were not visibly clear to the naked eyes. I could only imagine how majestic Sunshine Meadows would be if the weather is good and clear with all those mountains as a background.

Hiking Trail at Banff Sunshine Village
There were a lot of pretty and colourful flowers along the hiking trail

I actually went down to the hiking trail to the lakes for a bit but decided to make a U-turn mainly because I was pressed by time as I need to catch the 12 PM shuttle back to the Town of Banff. Other reasons for the U-turn were I forgot to bring bug spray and my legs were still sore from the hiking that I did 2 days before.

Tip: Please bring bug spray whenever you're hiking during summer in Canada. Bear spray is a plus.

As such, I decided to sit around at the Standish Viewpoint for about 45 minutes enjoying the amazing view before going down to the gondola base again. Wanted to stay longer but it was too bright and too hot. The UV index on that day was high as well. So, 45 minutes was my limit.

Banff Sunshine Village - Chairlift

The ride down to the gondola base was filled with my self-reflection about life in general, my numbered days in Canada and my goals. Also, it was filled hope and desire that I'll get another chance to see Sunshine Meadows again, hopefully in fall this year.

At this point, all I can say is my impromptu decision to go to Banff Sunshine Village & Sunshine Meadows might be one of the best impromptu decisions that I have ever made this year. It was easily one of the most beautiful places that I have ever been in Canada and for that, I'm eternally grateful for the chance given to me.

Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall

When I was in Malaysia last month, I had a lunch date with my high school best friend and my youngest sister. (She's a third wheel cum our driver. lol!) Our original plan was to eat lunch at K-Fry, IOI City Mall because I wanted to join the hype that is K-Fry but the line was freaking long and we got no time to waste.

So, we decided to have our lunch at Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall instead. It was an easy decision I could say as all I wanted was to eat Korean food. Other Korean restaurants in IOI City Mall did not fancy me much so we settled with Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe.

Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall
Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall

Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall is located on first floor, if I'm not mistaken, opposite of Pancake House and below GSC. Agak terceruk dan hujung tapi senang nak jumpa. The restaurant looks fancy from outside but lo, and behold it gets better from inside. I really liked the interior and ambiance of the restaurant. Very tranquil and serene.

There were not many people when we were there. If I remembered it correctly, there were a group of 3 ladies before us, and 2 groups of 2 ladies after us. I sadly have to mention this but the service was on the slower side even though there were not many people. Bukanlah slow sangat-sangat but slow if you compare to the number of customers present. Faham tak?

As for the food, we ordered three type of dishes and 1 side dish so that boleh main rasa-rasa? Kalau ikut hati nak order lagi banyak, but ones has to know his/her own limit, no? Perut ada satu je dan membazir tu amalan syaitan kan. (<--- My chant every time I feel like makan tak ingat dunia) So, I ordered Soft Tofu Stew (순두부 찌개) while my best friend ordered Mushroom & Soft Tofu Stew (버섯 순두부 찌개). As for my sister, she ordered Beef Short Rib Soup (갈비탕). Also, we ordered Steamed Egg On Pot (계란찜) because I want to know its taste.

The verdict?

The general verdict would be okay la, not that bad. They didn't fall into "Sedapnyaaaaaaa!" category but more like, "Oh, okay? Not bad. Pernah rasa yang lagi sedap dekat tempat lain." This was particularly true with my Soft Tofu Stew. It wasn't that bad but I had tried a more delicious Soft Tofu Stew in Canada that it felt quite lacking. Also, my Soft Tofu Stew was not spicy at all even though I asked for the spicy one so orang yang tak boleh makan pedas boleh cuba makan kot? Oh, one more thing that made me felt quite sad was seafood dia tak banyak pun T_T

I didn't try their Mushroom & Soft Tofu Stew (버섯 순두부 찌개) because I figured it should taste the same or less like my Soft Tofu Stew. After all, it's actually soft tofu stew with mushroom, no? So, I couldn't comment on that. However, my best friend did mention that it was spicy. She was sweating while trying to finish her Mushroom & Soft Tofu Stew. Though I have to say that I'm not really sure because it was really spicy or it was because my best friend has low spicy-tolerance.

As for Beef Short Rib Soup (갈비탕), it was a brand new taste to me? I was kinda weirded out by the taste. I have never tasted anything like it. The broth tasted clean and refreshing? Not sure if those are the perfect words to describe the taste but those are the only words that I could think of. Sadly, daging dia macam liat sikit. For someone yang gigi-giginya ada gaps, this was something that made my eating experience less enjoyable.

For the Steamed Egg On Pot (계란찜) pula, rasa dia and texture dia macam telur dadar? I don't know if the texture and taste should be like telur dadar ke tak because it was my first time eating Steamed Egg On Pot. I was expecting the Steamed Egg On Pot to be more creamy and watery so admittedly, I was kind of disappointed a lil bit by it.

Lastly, for the banchan (반찬), I really liked the veggies ones that I asked for a refill. It was so good! Tak sure nama dia apa. I tried the anchovies and peanuts ones but it was too salty for my liking. Didn't try the kimchi one because I don't eat kimchi or fermented food, as a matter of fact but my best friend said that the kimchi was delicious. I guess it was delicious because she asked for a refill as well. Don't quote me on this but I think they give free refills so feel free to ask for a refill for the banchan?

Didn't manage to get a picture of our drinks but my sister and I ordered Jeju Island Tangerine Juice (MYR 4.90) while my best friend ordered Hot Green Tea (RM 3.90). I don't drink Green Tea but according to my best friend it was good. The Jeju Island Tangerine Juice was good as well but it was quite sour on the first sip and not that sweet. So, there's that.

I felt like I criticized way too much about the dishes that I tried but please bear in your mind that I'm actually a fussy eater and has weird taste bud. I personally would go to Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall again because I want to try the other dishes. They offer quite a number of Korean meals that I love and I want to try. And I would love to give their sikhye (식혜) a try. So, I guess I'll see you again Oiso Korean Traditional Cuisine & Cafe, IOI City Mall?

Such a poor picture but this was the best picture that I can get as I didn't bring my DSLR that time. It was very hazy yet bright and hot when I went to Lake Louise Summer Gondola last July. Didn't get to do any hiking as I was not fully prepared. Hence, I plan to visit again so that I can hike few trails but I'm not sure when will I ever get the chance again. Hopefully, soon? :)

I was wow'ed by the view when I saw it for the first time. Too bad I didn't get to hike down to the lakes and the village like I originally planned due to few reasons. Definitely want to come back and go hiking next time. Please pray for me so that I'll get another chance to visit this beauty.

To. Jenny (투제니) (2018)

Decided to watch this drama as I saw this drama being mentioned dozens of times on a website that I regularly visit. So, I thought to myself, "why not?"

Snippet of the drama (From Wikipedia)
The music drama is about a young man who expresses his unrequited first love for a girl through music and a young woman who chases after her dream despite a harsh situation

My thoughts
To. Jenny was the epitome of my kind of drama and music! I loved this show so much for Kim Sung Cheol (김성철) and the playlist! I freaking loved almost all the songs in this show. Especially the ones that were remade and sung by Kim Sung Cheol. What a treat for myself! :)

If I have to describe this show in 3 words, it would be; fun, fluffy, and cute! Honestly, there's nothing new about this show. The plot has been used for countless times in K-dramaland but there's something about To. Jenny that tug my heart but I don't know what.

For one, I knew that I loved this show because of Kim Sung Cheol's character; Park Jeong Min. Park Jeong Min was such a regular guy. Like a really, regular guy. On top of that, he was such a nice, innocent and shy guy, and a sweetheart? I also loved his support system; his mum and sister, and his two best friends. They provided such a good support for him.

I particularly loved Park Jeong Min's interactions with his sister; Ok Hee. Their interactions were hilarious and heartwarming. Ok Hee was the voice of reason and wisdom for Park Jeong Min though she's only 10 years old. How can a 10-year-old girl talked so much sense to his brother? Indeed, their interactions were hilarious and really great to see.

Overall, I loved this show. The only thing that irked me was the inconsistency in video format and quality. As this show was made to promote Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus, some of the scenes were shot by phones. So, some of scenes looked a lil bit low quality. Other that that, I was pretty much happy with the show.

To reiterate, To. Jenny was my kind of show. It was one of those shows that I didn't know I needed until I watched it. I highly recommend this show if you're looking for something easy and short to watch (it only has 2 episodes) and if you love indie music! :)

Thank you To. Jenny for a fun short ride and enriching my Korean indie playlist! :)

Congratulations if this song does not get stuck on your mind! :p
