How Does COVID-19 Situation Affect My Life?

The COVID-19 outbreak has affected my life so much that I consistently feel my quality of life has significantly decreased ever since it first happened. It especially affects my mental health so much that I actually feel tired about living.

I always have this feeling that I'm actually prone to be infected because I work at the airport. Then, I tend to worry if somehow I'll spread the virus to anyone especially to my family, or my parents to be exact because they have a lot of health complications, if I ever got infected. I know, what an imagination but I can't help to overthink.

I'm taking as many precautions as I can to avoid this from happening so I hope I will never get infected by the COVID-19 virus. Please pray for me 🙏

Besides that, the business of my workplace also has significantly gone down. We're struggling to be honest. In one of our recent meetings, we were informed that there will be no bonus, no promotion, and no salary increment for this year. The management said they would not ask us to go for unpaid leave, let alone retrenching. However, if the situation becomes worse, they probably have to take drastic measures. I do understand the management's point of view because I see and feel the situation firsthand but I can't help but to feel so demotivated.

It also does not help whenever I see Malaysians at the airport are so excited about going for a vacation during times like these. I mean, I literally saw a few groups of large families (from elderly to babies!) earlier this week, giggling and laughing as they were taking pictures in the airport. I know for some, the trip might be the trip that they have planned for a long time and they have spent so much money to make it a reality, but I just can't stand to see how ignorant and selfish some people can be 😭

All in all, I hope this COVID-19 outbreak will not last that long because I don't think I have enough emotional capacity to handle these dreadful times.

&

I hope every Malaysian or even better, everyone in the world will do their part to help alleviate the spread of COVID-19 in Malaysia and the world.

***************************

The above paragraphs were written earlier this week, way before the PM's announcement. I currently still have to go to work as we are still open even though our business is not considered as an essential service. According to the circular received by the management, we are supporting essential services, so they decided to stay open.

But,

I just read that we are not considered as one of the essential services, so technically we should be closed by now? 😕

Update: We're now considered as one of the essential services. So, here we go!

  2. May Allah protect all of us. As someone who is staying in a state with the most number of cases, I wouldn't want to risk it by going straight home. We never know what might happen. I hope you're doing fine. take care and be safe okay

  5. It does affected my families economy quite bad. Especially my dad and my brother-in-law yang memang gaji hari. So I feel bad to see him in despair thinking about not having any income for the next 2 weeks. Nasib baiklah ada saving.
My dad pulak kerja dengan hotel so, tak pasal2 hotel tutup, takde assignments, gaji kena potong etc. It hurts me when I heard he said "silap2 duit rumah pun tak mampu bayar bulan ni." under his breath to make sure we didn't hear it.

Get well soon Malaysia, other affected countries and our dear old Earth. I hope everyone will see this as a wakeup call.

I am actually kinda in a same boat like your dad and your BIL though I do not get gaji hari. I probably will come out as unemployed (God forbids) if this situation persists.

  8. I can't with people who travel for fun now. Think about our KKM frontliners and how overworked they are.
I hope Malaysia would recover soon after RMO. So many people are affected and losing their income due to Corona.

    1. Bukan pekerja swasta je yang paling banyak terkesan. Saya rasa yang paling terkesan ialah orang kampung, orang yang bekerja sendiri dan orang yang bergaji hari. Senang cerita semua orang pun affected dengan COVID-19 ni.

Hope this tough times will pass soon.
