What Is Tahap Keseluruhan CEFR Bahasa Inggeris on Your SPM Result Slip?

What Is Tahap Keseluruhan CEFR Bahasa Inggeris on My SPM Result Slip? | I got this question from my cousin when she first received her result and truth be told, I have no idea. No one in my nuclear family is in school anymore so I don't have any urge to keep up with anything school-related.

However, after scouring the net, I found a video and diagrams that explain what is CEFR. The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard for describing language ability. It describes language ability on a six-point scale, from A1 for beginners, up to C2 for those who have mastered a language.

While I do understand the explanation because it makes so much sense to me (thanks, IELTS), I am not sure how it actually works with the new format of English 1119 since do not know the new format. I assume you will be evaluated through four components; listening, reading, writing, and speaking. And the average mark of each component will make up the level of your CEFR.

Putting myself as an example by using my IELTS score that I took almost eleven years ago; my CEFR level would be C1 since I scored 7.5 overall. However, my CEFR level for each component varied since I had different scores for each component.

IELTS score: 7.5
CEFR level: C1

Writing component: 6.0
CEFR level: B2

Speaking component: 7.5
CEFR level: C1

Reading component: 8
CEFR level: C2

Listening component: 8.5
CEFR level: C2

I believe, MOE is aiming for high school leavers to be at the B1 or B2 level.

I think it works the same for the SPM candidates. If you happen to score lower in one or two components, you can make it up by scoring higher in different components. Of course, it will be better if you can score evenly across every component. As I mentioned before, fret not if you score B2 or C1, or even C2. They are higher grades than B1, which means you are good.
