After writing and publishing my Reflection Of My 1-Month Trip To South Korea, I feel like I should do one for my trip to New York City, USA. It is going to be shorter than the South Korean ones because I spent less time here :)
1. Winter is REALLY not my season.
I learned this fact since my first year in university that winter is not my season. I love snow, the fresh and clean ones for a matter of fact, but I don't like anything else that comes with winter. The cold, shorter day, less daylight, cloudy and gloomy days? Uh uh, no thanks!
And, travelling during winter means that I have to bring or wear my gloves, scarf, bulky winter jackets and boots. I had sore legs throughout my trip as I had to wear my heavy winter boots and walk a lot. Also, I was sad that I lost my gloves and scarf when I was there. I just bought those gloves and the scarf was a gift from my mom ã… ã…
2. New York City is not as bad as what I read.
I have read a lot of bad stuff about New York City like how racist some of the New Yorkers can be or one is more prone to be a victim of any crime due to high crime rates. Thankfully, everything was good when I was there. I felt quite safe almost all the time but then, I also took extra precautions whenever I was out and about. It's always good to be safe than sorry, no?
3. Multi-tasking during a vacation is a NO-NO for me!
I brought my unfinished assignments to NYC as they were due at the end of my trip. Thought I could handle them while enjoying NYC but who am I kidding?! Had to stay up late almost every night when I was there trying to finish all my assignments. As a result, I felt so stressed and didn't get to enjoy and explore NYC thoroughly. Thankfully, I managed to finish all my assignments. Otherwise, I couldn't graduate on time ^^''
4. Take everything that you read with a grain of salt.
Really, just don't believe everything that you read on the net. Please take everything with a grain of salt. One thing that I felt so regretful about was I didn't bring my monopod or tripod on this trip. I read so so so many posts saying that most main attractions in NYC do not allow monopods or tripods. Naturally, I didn't bring mine but you know what? They didn't really care. I saw many people with their monopods.
I felt like I didn't grow or learn as much as I would like from this trip because my mind was all over the place. Hence, I'm thinking about visiting NYC again this year but then, I'm not sure if I REALLY want to go again because NYC did not really click with me the first time.
P.S.: I'm actually reluctant to update you about my NYC trip because it reminds me of a dark period of my life. Maybe I'll just update a few short posts of places that I have been to.

One of the few kinds of pictures that you'll get when you don't have a monopod or tripod ã… ã…

lucky you to go to NY..thank you for the sharing..let me follow this blog
ReplyDeleteYeah, I was lucky. Thank you for following this blog of mine :)
Deletei love winter sebab snow saja its pretty. but if we look it as a whole picture.. winter ni renyah. if akak ada chance ofcoz nak pegi lagi jalan2 during winter i wont say no cuba itula.. u cannot do much. but i like it sebab pakai mekap nampak cantik je hahaha..
ReplyDeletealways have that mini monopod o tripod with u. yang senang nak simpan dalam beg. it wont harm. kalau x boleh guna then simpan. hehe..
Yes, winter is actually renyah especially kalau snow tebal gila dan temperature rendah gila. Kalau biasa-biasa je, best je sebenarnya. Especially kalau langit biru. Lighting memang akan jadi cantik sangat. Tangkap gambar pun best. Hahahahaha. Tak tahu pula masa winter kalau pakai mekap nampak cantik je.
DeleteYes, yes, yes, I learnt my lesson in a hard way. Masa tu tak bawa sebab baca banyak sangat blog posts yang memang tak boleh bawa masuk, even dalam bag pun. Kalau bawa, kena buang. Sekali bila pergi The Empire State Building, kemain ramai orang bawa monopods. Stress ã… ã…
Hi Farah! Jelousnya tengok dia jalan jalan. Heheh. Nahh I have done that before (point number three), end up terpaksa skip a few places sebab nak siapkan assignment. Moral of the story, never ever plan your trip during hectic schedule. Hahah!
ReplyDeleteIni trip 3 tahun lepas. Kita mana ada jalan-jalan sekarang ni ha. Terperuk je dekat Banff ni.

Yes, yes, yes! Betul sangat tu. Tak payahlah pergi jalan-jalan kalau ada kerja tak siap. Nanti rugi macam kita ni ã… ã…
Mana tau this time trip lg better sbb tak bawa assignment.hehe
ReplyDeleteWe'll see sebab rasa macam nak pergi tempat lain dulu :)
Deletemana gambar dgn teksi kuning? hehehe
ReplyDeleteHonestly, takde gambar dengan teksi kuning langsung. I didn't know it was a thing when I went to NYC. Walhal bersepah je teksi kuning tu hari-hari nampak.
Deletei've never really had that interest to go there. Not sure why but I just don't feel like it. maybe someday this feelings of mine will change. who knows. but i love reading peoples experience when they went there. it sure is interesting tbh.
ReplyDeleteNYC was not really on my list as well. I actually wanted to go to LA but then I had one of my assignments due on the date that I intended to fly to LA. That's why I changed my destination to NYC because I had to finish off my assignment and push back my flying date. Also, it's only 1 hour flight away compared to 5 hours flight to LA :)
Deletekann, jangan terlalu percaya dengan apa yang kita baca. i need more! :D
ReplyDeletebestnya pergi NYC, dulu pernah teringin nak pergi sebab satu american drama series, lupa apa nama XD
Betul. Tak boleh percaya sangat dengan apa yang kita baca dekat ni.
DeleteFor me, alhamdulillah, okay je la pergi NYC ni. It's never on my bucket list, so there's that ^^ Rasanya macam ramai je orang teringin pergi NYC sebab terdedah dengan American movies or TV series.
I love winter, tapi tulah tak tahan sejuk sangat. Bestnya dah sampai new york! New york tu kita takut dengan racist and thugs dia jelah sebab baca mana2 kata crime rate tinggi
ReplyDeleteI think winter is okay kalau tak sejuk sangat. Tapi itulah, mungkin saya tak suka winter sangat sebab winter yang saya experienced semua yang extreme je, bukan winter yang biasa-biasa ã… ã…
DeleteYes, I was most worried about that. Thankfully, takde apa-apa yang tak elok berlaku masa saya dekat NYC. Kalau tak, mahu benci NYC. Hahaha
